About Dev
Tell us a little about you, and your current company.
We are the core of a small iPhone development team established based on Suponix design company. We generate ideas and make things moving in order to bring these ideas to life.
About your background: what did you do before taking up iPhone development?
We were lucky to combine knowledge and experience in different areas, with web & GUI design and development among them. Also, we’ve been involved in mobile software development and interface design during past couple of years. So we don’t treat ourselves as novice despite the fact that we have only one product in the App Store at the moment.
What apps have you developed so far? Tell us about your apps in brief.
BudgetCare personal expense tracker is our first iPhone application. Its main idea is to give common people a tool which is easy to use. Unlike many other applications of that type, our BudgetCare stands out with simplicity, ease of use and well-designed GUI presented in native iPhone style. You don’t need any set up, or break your head how to use it: just run it and write down what you spend money on, and then browse Statistics available in different views.
About Work
How do you go from idea to app? What’s the process?
We got an idea of developing BudgetCare when we haven’t find any application of that type with good interface and easy to use. Most of what we saw at that moment was not looking good enough, or was overloaded with many not so useful options, and it was hard to understand how it should be used.
Then we realized it’s our turn. We have put a lot of efforts to make BudgetCare intuitive, simple and comfortable for common iPhone users. We worked a lot on usability, as it’s one of the key factors of good product. As a result we have an application with good balance of simple functions targeted for everyday usage. We are proud of the Statistics section, and we get very nice feedback from our users who liked it and found it very useful. That’s why we are not afraid of high competition from other applications of this type.
What is your opinion about iPhone OS 3.0? In what ways do you think the new SDK would bring change?
iPhone OS 3.0 will bring a lot of cool changes. First of all it concerns new possibilities for completely new applications and especially games. It will also bring new marketing tools like upgrades and plug-ins. As for business applications, some specific things will be much easier to implement.
Any exciting stuff you are working on? Give our readers a hint of what to expect from you next.
Please be patient.
We plan to develop more interesting products during the following months, both applications and games. And of course we will update BudgetCare following comments and suggestions from our users. Most frequently requested features will definitely be added in upcoming BudgetCare updates. Stay tuned!
Do you develop for other platforms? How do you compare the iPhone development platform with other platforms?
Now we focus on iPhone platform only. Compared to other platforms, iPhone OS brings excellent tools for developing user-friendly native interface, but at the same time it leaves capability to customize it, or make it absolutely unique. So on one hand you can easily make an application concentrating on its functionality, but on the other hand now there are a lot of applications that were developed just because it was easy to do and they worth nothing.
Tell us something about how users are responding to your apps. What’s the most flattering comment you have received? Or the weirdest?
The tendency is that most people who send us feedback like the simplicity and usefulness of our application very much, and ask for more features to be added. Also, people give us suggestions on how to improve an application to match their specific needs. So our users play a positive role helping us to improve the product. We have a wish list of the mostly requested features and will work to implement them with no doubt. We would like to say Thank You to all our users.
About App Store
Name two iPhone apps you consider are cool, excluding the apps you’ve developed. What makes these apps stand out?
Readdle Docs for the documents, it is one of the applications that have great functionality and stability and worth every cent spend on it. And the FieldRunners game that I like to play when there is some free time.
Any message to your fellow developers?
If you start developing something make it as good as you can, don’t just write yet another application. App Store is already full of rubbish and it doesn’t make sense to add more of it.

Comments
I am really looking forward to multiplayer gaming through bluetooth connectivity and voice communication while playing games on the iPhone OS 3.0 and I agree with Andrew and Igor about the App store being overcrowded with pointless apps. We have read extensive discussions on this on iphonefootprint as well. Developers should browse the App Store and think about developing some really useful apps that are lacking.
Ya i think app store is filled up with many junk apps …..
Hope we expect more productive apps with multitasking facilities in the near future with the new iPhone OS.
Till now there is no such app or feature in the iphone which can run as a background process.
This is something Apple should come up with.
Hope Steve will consider my suggestion.
with new release of iphone OS definitely quality of product improved . i expected more good quality app with different feature………
iPhone SDK offers the best platform to develop the coolest applications in the world with its touch recognition and motion detection. You can use the best technologies to create stunning apps. As you see apple keeps on improving. iPhone 3.0 with bluetooth will be definitely used by the developers to offer us next trend of apps for iPhone
