iPhone app developers more interested in developing applications for all seasons

I was shocked this time on not finding two dozens or more of applications meant specially for Mother’s Day. There are apps even for Pirates Day (not Somali Pirates of course), finding Halloween apps, Christmas applications, Easter, etc was not that surprising. Now the most painful part is there are only few applications for Mother’s Day. Have we all stopped caring and loving our moms? A developer friend of mine who was so fond of developing seasonal/occasional applications too has nothing this time.

reasons-why-application-developers-hate-apple-and-the-iphone-app-storeI wrote to him few days back to know whether he has some special application for Mother’s Day? The reply was a straight “Nooo.” The reasons he cited impressed me and I at least know something of what developers are up to now. Developers have become more serious and dedicated and also have become greedy in someway.

Here are the lines that ring some bells: “If I develop something for Mother’s Day, it’s gonna be live for a week or two and would be forgotten forever. It is a waste of time and the return that you’ll get from it is not worth the struggle. I’d rather spend the time conceptualizing a very innovative game. And most of all why should I contribute something that would make the App Store more crowded. I would gift my mom something that’s more special than an iPhone application.”

Making the App Store more crowded? Yes, he has a point there, check the App Store there are thousands of seasonal applications that are simply sitting there without people downloading them at all. You’ll find Christmas apps, Halloween apps, Easter applications and so on. This is one of the factual reasons why there are more than 35,000 applications in the App Store as Apple claimed. This is in addition to the flashlight apps, fart apps, burp apps and other useless applications.

Lately, as I understand from my developer friend’s mail, developers are slowly realizing the tough competition waiting for them in the App Store. It is innovation, high utility value and the level of excitement of applications/games that would make developers survive the competition in the App Store. And a little marketing tweaks are also required to bear the heat in the App Store.

The App Store is still shy of a year, but it has reached an impressive one billion download mark and developers are becoming more serious in developing innovative games and applications rather than spending their time coding away near useless and stupid applications.

True to what was said, I found only two Mother’s Day specific applications, more might come though. What Apple suggested as the best gift might turn out to be the better option this time to gift your mom if you have saved up some money.

I guess developers can think of ways to combine festive spirit and utility. Games or applications that can be used at all times can be designed with the various seasons and festivals as backdrops. Also it’s good to know that developers are getting more serious about their applications as this will give us a lot of good choices instead of having to go through numerous pointless applications.

i think, in today’s world, time means money. one should spend time on that thing which is useful always for all. Seasonal apps can be use for a short time period & after that the season is over, it remains unused untill it comes again next year.
Apps developer said correctly that they are interested to make apps for all seasons, so that they can entertain used always & can get their feedbacks everytime.

in my opinion , in todays competitive world it’s very difficult to stay in market with their
standard or raise their standard . So v have to spend more time on quality of product that become more user friendly . Seasonal app only for a period of time after that no one interested . so app which entertain every time and all time favorite ……………………

Now we r in fast and competitive world,In this situation we want to think about two things
*How to bombard the market!!!,**How to keep your position safe!!!
For this we want to spend more time to introduce great and user friendly Apps with good quality!!!
In feel quality is more important than quantity!!!!

Hi friends,

My views are a little bit different on this point. It’s not about the greed of developers, it’s about the feelings of a son/ daughter for his/ her mother. For a second, just leave about developer, and think about that son/ daughter who will show his/ her mother that “I love you so much that I have downloaded an application on iPhone showing quotes for you”. Does it really make sense ???? or does it really show his/ her feelings for his/ her mother ???…….. The obvious answer is “NO”. Now come to that developer who spends his much valuable time on developing an App. for this occasion, and in the last, he has no one to download it. Is it the proper remuneration for his hard wok ???

This is one of the major reasons, why the developers try to make something innovative and ever lasting. The real remuneration for a developer is not the money he gets from that App, but the appreciation he gets from the people who download it. And at the same time, the better way to celebrate mother’s day is to show your real feelings to your mom, and if possible, give her such a gift which can prove itself useful to her….. (may be like an iPhone)…….
