One billion iPhone applications downloaded: Who is the winner?
In an attempt to be the lucky winner, I’ve been downloading iPhone applications like crazy (most of them free ones of course) since the day Apple announced that the person who downloads the 1 billionth application would be given a 17 inch Macbook Pro, a Time Capsule router and $10,000 iTunes gift card. Seems I was born on an unlucky day, Apple has reached the one billion mark on Thursday and I’ve not got any Apple mail. Nevertheless, I’ll love to know the winner.
I should say Apple was feverish out of restlessness to reach the billion mark, that’s the only sane reason for announcing the award. Anyways, the trick worked. After the announcement of the award, there was some kind of mad rush for the Macbook Pro, Time Capsule and the Gift Card; App Store download rate got increased by 10 percent.
In a matter of two weeks, more than 70 million applications were downloaded. The average down application download rate was about 5.55 million per day, wow. Just nine months, just nine months (does this ring some bell?) Apple has made it. There are now more than 35,000 applications in the App Store and there are 37 million iPhones and iPod touch out there in the world, do you think the download rate would slow down from here? Not likely. And remember that a new iPhone hardware is coming soon too. Watch out for more surprises.

Hey ,
I found something unusual about the number of downloads animation.
The figures which were show increasing like 999,999,877 were really nice to look at. But when i was disconnected from the internet , i found they were still increasing …..
This is a java script effect embedded inside the flash application. When i later connected to the internet and disabled the java script from my browser it was stopped…..
but it was really a nice flash animation…….
Wow!!!!! seriously? This is new to me. Apple was lied to us all in that case.
