RIM’s CEO indirectly admits BlackBerry Storm sucks

Not exactly, but in some way. In an exclusive interview done by Mobiles Solutions, RIM co-CEO RIM Mike Lazaridis revealed something about the prospects and future plans of the company, which you’ll all love to read. One particular question and the corresponding response caught my attention this article is all about it.

BlackBerry StormThe question irked Lazaridis, no doubt. It is related to the recall of the Storm after its first launch citing technical problems. Co-CEO Bassillie earlier cited the Storm as a “new reality” for the company in manufacturing smartphones. Yes, for RIM the Storm has been like an experiment with something totally new ( a widescreen touchscreen). However, what left me confused here is the words of Lazaridis: “That’s our first touch product, and you know nobody gets it perfect out the door. You know other companies were having problems with their first releases.”

Does he mean to say something like, “we didn’t think that it would be faulty and be recalled, sorry early adopters.” Lets compare with the iPhone here, I think it was not made to be recalled, though it was not perfect when launched. Apple knows how to make it go on work better and better through it’s endless software updates. iPhone is thus something of a software record breaker.

Later in the same interview, the co-CEO had the chance to criticize Apple for not being able set right Push Notification on the iPhone. Actually that was a mis-hit too, as he said RIM got the feature right because they have learned to do it right from their more than a decade technology experience. Is there a point?

Apple has been in the Smartphone business only for more than two years and seems to be performing much more than the experienced RIM. Lazaridis should have directly said, “BlackBerry is cool but Storm sucks.”

True, the Blackberry Storm is a bit buggy (I admit) but it has capabilities that the iPhone is only just supposedly getting in its 3.0 update.

All in all, I’m pretty happy with what I got. It does what it’s suppose to do, a bit slowly at times, but it also does a ton of things that the iPhone cannot do at all just yet…

the blackberry storm is honestly the worst cell phone purchase i have ever made!! it has given me more problems than any other phone i have ever had. this is the first smart phone i purchased. i bought one for my wife and me. i switched from a lg dare to this piece of crap. i miss the dare!!!! dont buy this phone. it is slow as hell and i was hoping there would be a software upgrade by now and there isn’t. i got the phone in order to have good internet access and it is slower then my friends phone and he only has the lg voyager. what a waste of money!!!!!!!!

Mike,

YOu need to upgrade your the operating software on your phone. Once you do that, it should take care of most of the issues you are now having with your phone. Go to http://www.crackberry.com to download the software. It’ll make a big difference in the performance of your device.

This is definatly the worst phone i have EVER owned. I have had other Blackberry’s…TREO’s…. The Storm is more like a heavy fog…I love the new commercial for the Storm 2…..Can lightning strike twice??? Lets hope not…

Justin

Yeah I hate the Storm too…. owned it for 2 days and hated it afterwards and sold it.

The Storm 2 is suppose to have a screen that resembles something like a sponge so instead of the whole thing clicking, the part you touch is the only one that clicks down (like rubber or whatever)

The Storm 2 is interesting…

But after using the Storm one thing good came out of it… I type faster on my iPhone now and I tend to press harder for no reason
