I am yet to figure out the real intention behind Apple hiring Dob Drebin. He was the CTO of Graphics Products Group at ATI/AMD till January 2008. Dob Drebin recently accepted Senior Director position at Apple. His precise role at Apple is unknown though. The latest Apple recruitment of another Chip expert Raja Koduri has made things a bit curious. Kaduri also was also a former employee of ATI.

Chip craze in Apple started when the company acquired PA Semi in 2008. Apple now has Wei- Han-Lien(who was with PA Semi), Papermaster, Dob Drebin and Raja Koduri to make Jobs’ dream come true. 

Steve, the great Jobs has once said that Apple would one day be developing its own systems -on-chip for the iPhone and the iPod touches. Looks like the hour has come, the company is distancing away from rival handset makers by developing their own chipsets. 

Wei Han Lien’s profile in Linkedin says that he is in charge of a team developing ARM processors that would power the next generation iPhone. Do we need more evidence! Hope this would do for now.
