I am hopelessly clueless as to what Apple would do with Twitter if it were to acquire it. A wild rumor is doing its round that Apple is in talks to acquire the technology blog for $700 million. 

Could it be simply because of the popularity of tweets and the staggering number of users (approximately 25 million) Apple is eying this blog? 

Though Apple is famed for bringing out great products, it is also known for its greed when it comes to money. If this rumor is true, Apple must have seen some way to monetize out of poor twitter. Would you pay to tweet if twitter goes into the hands of Apple?
