iPhone 3G S launch comparatively quieter
Have you been to any of the iPhone 3G S sales outlet? This year I didn’t have the wallet mood to venture out and actually the willingness to upgrade, so I stayed home reading tweets and mails from our readers. Well, many people seem to be in the same confused boat like me.
I was there at the launch of both the first generation iPhone and the subsequent launch of the 3G. It was fun chatting with iPhone fans and standing in the long queue. You don’t really know how time whiz away. That was all fun and I thought I have missed that fun this year.
However, the launch of the iPhone 3G S is said to be comparatively quieter this year (reports coming from UK) and there are many reasons why iPhone fans are possibly acting this way. Not that we hate Apple or the Jesus phone. Here are the factors that could have prevented people from plunging out.
The unfriendly economy coupled with the steep cost associated with upgrade from 3G to the 3G S, Apple’s new mechanism of pre-order and home delivery. The other possibility is may be people are not simply ready to sweat and wait out just for the minor speed tweak and video recording feature.
The other least possible reasons for the poor waiting attendance could be because people are more interested in waiting for the CIA secret documents promised to be exposed or simply watching the protest rallies in Iran (sorry for mixing technology and politics).
If anyone of you are waiting out, do let us know about your experience and what you think.

I was out early to Regent Street store in London. I am home now with a brand new iPhone 3G S. Yes, there was no line at all if you compare to the previous years’ queue. It was not disappointing. People could have opted for home delivery. Apple would sell half a million devices this week alone, that is an acceptable estimate.
NY Fifth Avenue Apple Store ain’t that impressive either.
