iPhone 3G S versus Palm Pre: Speed test
The iPhone 3G S just got launched and the usual unboxing and ripping open the guts to see the entrails have started. People are just too curious not to do that anyway.
However, I was more interested to know whether the iPhone 3G S is better or the Palm Pre. I found exactly what I was searching for, speed test of the two devices. There are many videos already in YouTube that presents the comparison test. I am particularly picking the browser test to keep things short.
Thanks to iPhone blog for posting the video and for proving that the iPhone 3G S is a tad faster than the Palm Pre in browsing.
Hey, that is not the end CNET Asia has their own comparison video up for the Palm Pre and the iPhone 3G S.
Here the video shows that the iPhone 3G S starts up faster than the Pre, but the Pre beats the iPhone in loading up web pages.
Watching these videos left me more confused, and there would be more confusing videos uploaded in days to come. For now, I’ll just agree that both the devices are equally innovative and it is the matter of adoption that matters.
If thou art Pro Pre so it be, if thou art Pro Jobs remain so.

It’s not CNET Asia, they were joking. They were from cnet.com. The joke was that they were all Asian American. Get it?
Anyway, their test was flawed to begin with: it was less a test of the Pre vs. the two iPhones then it was Sprint vs. AT&T in that particular building. If they wanted to test the three phones, they would have used wifi.
Thos.is is the dumbest article… Why to really break some new… Some other people on the inter net did some things, they both thinbk their device is better.
The Asian test was unfair as the Sprint network is faster than the AT&T network. What they should have done is put both on the same WiFi. The other test did use WiFiI but felt a bit hokey as the guy was always giving the iPhone a second headstart. Then when he switched to 3G on both phones he admitted the Sprint signal was poor, and so the iPhone was naturally faster.I’m an iPhone fan, but this test felt a bit fishy as if the guy was trying real hard to make sure the iPhone won.
The palm pre browser is based on the same browser base code that Safari uses.
