Shape Escape: iPhone block and shape matching game
Hey, want to make your child learn about matching colors and shapes? Get Shape Escape on your iPhone/iPod touch; this could be more effective than the simple colorful toys. I am sure your child would love the little elephant pushing those colorful blocks.
Shape Escape is very similar to the sokoban puzzle game, but unlike sokoban here the blocks are of multiple colours and of two differnt shapes (cylinders and cubes) pushed by an elephant. The gameplay is simple; there are colored blocks on the board which you have to push into the holes of the same shape and color with the help of the little elephant.
Be careful there are grey areas where the elephant is not suppose to tread on and make sure that the blocks are not pushed to a corner from where you can’t retrieve. In either cases, the only option is to replay the level.
Choose either Campaign or Practice to start the game. Within each of the mode, you’ll have to choose either easy or normal pack.
In Campaign mode you have 30 lives and have to complete each level in order. However, in practice mode, you’ve unlimited life and also can skip to or go back to unlocked levels. Unlocked levels are those which you have completed. Ahem, going back to play the level I have crossed? For what?. And as always, the game is saved and can be resumed.
I was wondering about the name of the game; Shape Escape. Am I not trying to fit and match things different shapes? Well, let it be so. The game as a whole is not really bad or is not something that’s great either. Sound is scarce, you got to hear them only when you’ve fit a block into the right hole.
Animation is simple. You have six backgrounds to select from(all of them are identical though).
Play this game with little expectations, you will now be dispirited, and if you are serious about teaching your child, hmm the iPhone/iPod touch is a costly toy.
