Adaptunes for music lovers: iPhone app review
Finally here is an iPhone application that makes the iPhone/iPod touch wiser for the benefit of music lovers. Adaptunes is the application and it gives you the freedom that the iPod application failed to provide.
Adaptunes is a replica of the iPod application with auto volume adjust feature.
The application showcases the magic of iPhone SDK and OS 3.0. It directly controls the content of the iPod on your device. All the songs, video files and podcasts you have in your iPod app would be visible in Adaptunes.
This application is meant to be used when you are on the move. Create playlist on the go, select the correct profile (driving, motorcycling, road biking, mountain biking or skiing) and start playing any of the playlist. The application would play the songs one after the other adjusting the volume depending on the speed you are moving.
In the settings page, you can set distance in miles or kilometers, elevation in meters or feet.
The faster you move, higher goes the volume and when you come to a halt, the volume becomes low enough to let you communicate with people around you. The music would not stop even if you close the application, this is how the iPod application also functions.
You can play songs from Adaptunes and play other games simultaneously after disabling the game sound.
It is good that Apple didn’t reject this application citing duplication of iPod functionality.
I am really impressed with the auto volume adjust feature, a straight five star for perfectly taming the accelerometer and GPS.
