One year back, Apple didn’t know that the App Store they are going to launch would become the greatest hit in one year. Many industry watchers and analysts were skeptical too because of the novelty of the idea. Nevertheless, the company shouldered the risk and hail now it has become the greatest hit of all times. 

Apple thus has many reasons to be happy, even the ever serious Steve Jobs has shown signs of laughing at Apple skeptics.

iPhone and iPod touch users have downloaded more than 1.5 billion applications from the App Store. The application store now has more than 65,000 applications. More than one hundred thousand developers have signed up for the iPhone Developer Program.

Steve Jobs has this message for the whole tech world: “The App Store is like nothing the industry has ever seen before in both scale and quality. With 1.5 billion apps downloaded, it is going to be very hard for others to catch up.”

Yes Jobs, you are right, applications stores of Android phones, BlackBerries, Windows Mobile, will take ages to replicate the success of the App Store. Apple indeed is slowly winning the technology race lap after lap with their range of products from PC to smartphone to music players.
