iPhone 3GS battery complaints: What you should do?

I do sometimes envy when I see iPhone 3GS owners taking video recordings with their devices, when they show off the compass application and so on. However, I have not changed my decision not to upgrade very soon. While you’ll find many proud and happy iPhone 3GS users, seems there are as many unhappy lots too.

iphone-batteryThere are many complaints surfacing on the Internet that the iPhone 3GS battery isn’t up to the mark. Some users are even claiming that the iPhone 3G battery turn out to be better than that of the new iPhone 3GS. It is hard to judge though.

Wired.com, to prove the credibility of all the complaints doing their rounds reportedly conducted battery test comparing the iPhone 3G and the new 3GS. The test was conducted with push notification turned on, earbuds plugged in , Wi-Fi toggled off, full volume on one music video. The iPhone 3GS said lasted for five hours and 47 minutes and the iPhone 3G, which was one year old lasted only 3 hours and 38 minutes.

I am not sure why the test was conducted between the iPhone 3GS and a year old iPhone 3G. The test would have been more meaningful if it were a comparative test between a seemingly battery defective iPhone 3GS and one that is considered good.

Apple advertised that the iPhone 3GS has a more capable battery than all it predecessors, but there are many complains nevertheless. Is it possible that these users have got defective devices?

Well, if that is the case, they should go for mass replacement. If only Apple had made the iPhone 3GS a replaceable battery device, we would not be complaining so much. Apple also would not be replacing the whole handset for a defective battery.

If you are one of the unlucky owners of a fast dying iPhone 3GS battery, the best thing you can do for now is schedule an appointment at Apple Store Genius Bar and pray for replacement.
