iPhone application keywords for better search results

app-store1What are the chances of finding an iPhone application for which you either don’t know or have forgotten the name of the app and the developer? Browse all the categories and sub categories? That’s a hell lot of effort, but the result could still be disappointing as the chances of not finding the particular app is greater than finding it so easily.

More than 65,000 application under 20 categories, browsing to find the best is like searching for a needle in a haystack. Some time back, Tim Cook hinted that search option in the App Store would be made easier, well, Apple has a specific plan to implement this right away.

Developers can now add keywords of up to 255 characters, which would be used for searching their applications in the App Store. Apple’s note on this new implementation reads:

“It is important to enter keywords for all applications as soon as possible so your application can continue to be successfully located on the App Store. Keywords can be updated with the submission of a new binary.

In addition to this, Apple reportedly also has fixed some known issues with the search in App Store. Search results has narrowed down to more accurate selection. Search results for specific genre or group has become more accurate too. Kudos Apple!
