Palm Pre back on iTunes with webOS 1.1
Just a week after Apple released iTunes 8.2.1 and yanked the Palm Pre from its music, video and application store, Palm is back with a software update to play the software cat and mouse game.
Yes, Palm has just released webOS 1.1 that allows the Pre to enter iTunes from the backdoor enabling media sync again.
Apple released iTunes 8.2.1 with the note “a number of important bug fixes and addresses an issue with verification of Apple devices.” The release note of webOS openly says “you once again can have seamless access to your music, photos and videos from the current version of iTunes (8.2.1)”
It is understandable that Apple was not very happy about Pre sitting comfortably on iTunes, after all it is a software that they developed and third parties taking advantage and blabbing about it ain’t very logical and ethical. They have the right to protect it.
Palm has the capability to develop their own easy to use media syncing system, and I wonder why the company leaves Pre users to the charity and mercy of Apple. This is something like giving your children stolen apples. Nevertheless, let the play go on, it’s interesting.
Apple is already charting out ways to kick the Pre harder and farther away from its iTunes.
