Apple wants you to shut your mouth when your device is on fire or it explodes

We’ve heard of an iPod exploding in a pant pocket, burning a car recently, and many other iPod exploding news. This one, which happened just few days back is the scariest so far.

Technology Timesonline has this report that a man from Liverpool, Ken Stanborough dropped his daughter’s iPod touch, heard a hissing sound when he picked up the device and felt the device getting ipod-explodedhotter. Acting on impulse, Stanborough threw the device out of the window and the iPod reportedly exploded after 30 seconds. The impact of the explosion threw the device 10 feet in the air.

Sounds like the working of a hand grenade right? Good that Stanborough did the right thing in hurling out the device; that was sensible and heroic too.

As is totally logical, the shocked man contacted Apple and Argos to claim refund of the exploded device. This was when Apple said they would refund the amount on the condition that the whole matter be kept confidential. That was when this man chose to let others know about what happened rather than to to keep mum after getting back  £162.

It is understandable that Apple wants to protect their reputation by trying to silence people who have had problems with their devices. However, threatening with tire consequences just for replacing or refunding to make people shut their mouths ain’t a very tempting offer. The company should think of giving more tempting rewards, but who possibly would accept that?

Until then, well’ go on reporting about these burning and exploding news from around the world.
