Cartoon Wars; fight for the black and white cartoons on the iPhone

cartoon-warsMy first thought when I played Cartoon Wars was that it’s amazing how much blood a stick figure can generate. The stick figure in question is one of the many that make up the black and white cartoon tribe. They’ve joined their stick hands and are up in arms against the colored cartoon tribe which has been oppressing them for ages.

You will have to fight and help the black and white tribe conquer the enemy’s castle.. The method to do this is to produce units of stick figures by tapping on the icon buttons at the bottom of the screen. You have your own castle too, and a giant bow at the top; you can adjust the angle of the bow and shoot arrows with the help of a button at the bottom right of the screen.

An interesting feature is a ‘mana booster’ that stands behind your castle. I personally think the mana figure here looks something like the Statue of Liberty, but this supernatural force sure helps in the big fight. The more mana you upgrade, the more its production is.

Since this is the cartoon world, be assured that you will be facing a lot of imaginative and colorful enemies with all sorts of powers. But as you dissolve each enemy in a puddle of blood, your coins count increases. Use them to armor yourself with more than 30 types of units, and different kinds of upgrades.

The levels are unlimited, so Cartoon Wars makes for a long gameplay. The numerous upgrades along the way keep you busy making battle decisions, except when you hit a roadblock after level 31 cos you have bought just about every unit and upgrade.  BLUE could perhaps get busy creating more of them?

The units produce really fast like rabbits (bad pun, I know), so no problem there, but it is difficult to control the aim of the bow. Cartoon Wars would also be a lot cooler if it could be played in multi-player mode, maybe with the two tribes against each other.

There are quite a few spelling and grammar errors, so that’s something to be taken care of too. Even with all this glitches, Cartoon Wars is a fun game with an interesting storyline. Where else do you find lil cartoon stick figures with mana in them?

this IS the best comment

I have the best comment becuz this comment will make you smile and becuz I really want to win this promo code! Ok, here it goes. Today, I was eating potato chips on the sofa because I was bored. Than, some chips fell on the floor, and as I went to pick them up, I accidentally stepped on them! Than, I gathered up the grease out of my sock, donated it to McDonalds, and they were so happy that they gave me a free Happy Meal toy. That’s how pathetic my life is, and this promo code will make my life 100x better! I hope I win! If I do win, email the code to iphoneappcrazy@aol.com Thanks!

PROMO CODE goes to iphoneappcrazy :) That indeed is funny and unrelated

How do u upgrade the manna booster behing ur castle?

Alex

Not the usual fan of tower like defense games, Cartoon Wars adds a charming twist on the whole genre. First of all, it’s horizontal, almost 1-dimensional, side-scrolling type of defense. Rather than being limited to the resources produced by killing enemies, you are given a mana reserve and a mana generator (both of can be upgraded). Killing enemies on the other hand, will not only reward you even more mana, but gold as well, which can be used to purchase upgrades. Upgrades can be purchased both during and after a stage. The Bow and Arrow, while it’s true is a bit finicky, there is a second control scheme that allows for auto-shooting and more exact changes to trajectory.

I’m still working out how the whole save system works, but after playing the demo for 3 hours straight non-stop, I had to buy the game. Which reminds me, for those of you that have noticed Cartoon Wars on the Top 25 for the past two years, they’ve finally released a free demo. Worth checking out.

FYI, I don’t work for BLUE. I just wanted to be thorough. I’ll take that promo code so my best friend can play it too.

I do love the game, I agree there needs to be some
updates to the upgrade system, the bow is a bit tricky to control but if u use it with slight movement in either direction it can be very acurate. The over all playablility is great, but once you have all the upgrades the game can get a bit redundent. The mana booster is a cool idea, but I think it would be cool to be able to use gold at higher levels to get it to activate instead of that precious mana you need for units. Over all a good game, and with some small updates the game would be great!

hi folks, I just bought the game and I really enjoy the thourough gameplay. The only thing that prevents me from playing further is that I couldn’t figure out how to save and continue games within the levels… If you have to pick up a call, after having played half an hour and your progress gets lost - this can be really annoying.

Can anybody help me out on this? Or is it just not possible to save games within the levels?

cheers

Chris

Just press the ’save’ button between levels.
You cannot save ‘in level’ so it is key to save after each level after you have upgraded as you wish.
I have just completed level 50 and have maxed out every upgrade.
At this point the game is not really worth playing as there is no further progression possible and I am just stockpiling gold.

This is a great game with endless levels it will keep u entertained for hours to come. It is definetly worth the price.
