FCC grilling Apple for rejection and removal of iPhone applications
Hmm, finally big brother FCC wants to know Apple’s approval and rejection policy of applications in the App Store. Rejection of Google Voice app and removal of other applications that provide the same service triggered this intervention.
Apple has to give response to six specific questions to the Federal Communication Commission “by close of business on Friday, August, 21 2009.” The answers for most of the questions would let us know more about Apple’s policy.
The questions seek the reason for the recent rejection of Google Voice app and removal of other related applications, involvement of third party in the matter, etc. Apple finally also has to speak out about the once mysterious standards of approving iPhone applications, the duration for approval, appeal process, etc.
We’ll know the response to most these intriguing soon. Apple has been given the option to treat some of the responses as confidential if they wish. So the secretive policy part could still be a mystery to us. That’s sad!
