How to make your Palm Pre more clunky

preI know this write up is going to be an offbeat, nevertheless, it’s good to take a wild plunge once in a while.

You all know that battery life of all smartphones do not last long if you are a heavy user. That’s what we call smartphone dilemma. The iPhone 3GS, which Apple claimed is exceptional isn’t an exception at all. You can’t simply go hiking for days and expect the battery to last as long as you wish.

There, I am going offbeat again. Well,  if you are looking for ways to make your Palm Pre look more clunky Amzer has got a very straight proposal. Grab the company’s 3800mAh battery, 3 times the size of the default battery that comes with the device. The positive side, you’ll have hours and hours of battery life, the down side of course is people might think that you are carrying around the mobile phone of the 60s that weighs around 40 pounds.

One more thing, to fit in this heavy duty battery, you’ll need a new back cover for your Pre, which the maker does have it ready for you. Hmm, I’d say Apple giving us a device without  the plug in and plug out option of the battery is a better a idea to make sure that third parties do not make these kind of crazy accessories.

Enough with ranting and attacks, Amzer’s Pre battery would be super handy for people who live in places where there is no power or sunlight for days. It cost only $130, so why not get it for your next long hiking trip.

I got to be honest, I really quite like that Palm made these things an option. At least if you /need/ to have a month of battery life the option is there. Can anyone explain to me how Apple saying “No, we won’t allow users to install larger capacity batteries” is better than Palm allowing their users to do so? Sure, it may be at the expense of beauty, but at the end of the day, it’s the user’s choice. Nobody says you MUST stick a cinderblock on the arse of your new smartphone.
