Swine Flu – The Ground Zero Chronicles on the iPhone is an engaging game

swine-fluIf there is any cool factor about swine flu, this application has got to be it. Swine Flu – The Ground Zero Chronicles is fun, addictive and it actually teaches us a thing and more about the H1N1 virus.

We are at ground zero, and the great and rather heavy mission of saving the world from the dreaded virus is upon us. There are three ways to accomplish this assignment; extract the virus, preserve the antibodies, and very importantly, discover the vaccine. Easier said than done, eh?

To collect the virus, we have to touch it before it vanishes from the screen. Some viruses are more stubborn and we need to tap on them more than once. In order to preserve the antibody, the method is to tap on the viruses coming at it from all sides to prevent them from touching it. As for the all essential task of finding the vaccine, we need to test the samples by matching them with the viruses according to color.

The game play starts with a story mode, and we have to clear it before we can progress into the survival mode. The 50 levels of missions in the story mode are intense and the game play keeps interchanging between the three systems.

The controls are real smooth; simply swipe or tap on the screen to play. We need to be very quick though; the timeline runs out very fast, and we need to beat it before it boots us out with a ‘mission failed’.

The game interface is not all that great, except for the virus graphics based on actual H1N1 virus images which is quite well done.

Swine Flu – The Ground Zero Chronicles is an engaging game, and whether or not the world gets rid of swine flu sooner or later, this game is around to stay for sometime on our iPhones.
