The App Store is one of the best things that Apple visualized, however, the happiness of it being the largest repository of mobile applications belong to those who are using iPhone and iPod touches around the world. That’s the reason why I am happy again because the App Store download has whizzed past 2 billion mark already.

More than 50 million iPod touch and iPhones users worldwide are downloading games and applications to the tune of 6.4 million each day from the App Store.  A stunning figure!  Now, that’s the secret why the App Store reached the 2 billion download mark on 28 September, 2009. This time there weren’t any prize announced for the 2 billionth download.

App Store download reached the billion mark back in April 23, 2009 and in July, Apple announced that the total download has crossed 1.5 billion.

The App Store now has more than 85,000 applications and more than 125,000 registered developers according to Apple.

Well, I am not totally surprised with the figure. I am waiting for App Store to reach 10 billion download mark before it completes its two years of existence. Hmm, there is real challenge there.
