Globetrotting with Globetimer World Clock for iPhone
It is like having all the time of the world in your hands, if not all the time in the world. Globetimer brings to the iPhone a world clock that helps us to know what time it is anywhere in the world at anytime.
The interface of the application shows a globe with the different times of the world on it in a circle. Globetimer has several features that we can set according to our own liking, and there are three separate tabs to do all these. The options tab reveals the three categories of choices. In the general section, we can select the timezone that we want to be displayed centrally. We can choose between a 12 and 24 hr display format for the time.
In the cities option, we can edit the timezone; a useful feature is to offset time according to GMT, and setting the timezone as such when adding a new city. We can also edit the name of the city to be displayed. As the developers suggest, it would be a good idea to enter a person’s name instead of the city, so that we know instantly that person’s timings. There is also a separate option to set whether a particular city has DST.
To use the database, we need internet connection. The database is a collection of information about some of the world’s main cities that we can see at a glance. It tells us whether a city or country has DST, and also the metropolitan and total population.
The colors option lets us set colors for different aspects like city, city with DST, timezone, clock and city background.
Globetimer is helpful and effective, and it looks great too. The application ensures that we don’t call up someone in another part of the world when it is least convenient for them. Simply check Globetimer to see when would be a good time to call them. The various options ensure that we can keep it personally customized. Definitely a great app to go time globetrotting with!
