The release note says ‘bug fixes’ and some of the issues addressed are better Wi-Fi performance when bluetooth is turned on for iPhone 3G users. Another significant issue addressed is the incorrect display of application icons. Most important features added are:
1. Triple Click of iPhone 3GS home button calls up the command to initiate VoiceOver, Toggle White on Black or to turn Zoom On feature.
2. Voice Control feature on iPhone 3GS which is triggered when the home button is pressed down for several seconds now works over bluetooth. You’ll have to hold down the bluetooth call button and state your command when Voice Control option pops up.
3. MobileMe now allows you to change the passcode of your iPhone in case you lose it or is stolen. You can remotely enable a pass code on your device. Find My iPhone remote tracking feature has be
4. Events saved in calendar are now displayed along with the location of the event in 3.1
5. While trimming of recorded video files, there is an option to retain the original file for iPhone 3GS users. The original files are not auto replaced by the trimmed ones as in iPhone OS 3.0.
6. Safari now gives the option to enable or disable fraud web page detection feature.
7. Copy and paste feature works for the phone interface. You can copy and paste contacts and their associated phone numbers in iPhone OS 3.1.
Apart from the listed pies there are many more features to be discovered, some that works in collaboration with the newly released iTunes 9.
