iPod nano camera; all the buzz and what it offers
If you want the slimmest video recording camera, get the iPod nano. This is what Apple is speaking out loud to the whole world. You’ve not only got a video recorder but also music in your pocket with the nano. Now that’s like carrying a swiss knife in your pocket.
Yes, I repeat ‘the iPod nano is just like a swiss knife’ which you definitely know is not for serious cutting, spanning or twisting things. It’s more for doing simple things get done in a stylish way. Even with the camera, the iPod nano is basically a music box that most of us would use just for music.
YouTube may soon get flooded with videos shot with iPod nano; iPhone 3GS users are already trying to populate YouTube content. Apple has till date sold more than 100 million iPod nanos, and if this camera version of the nano can sell the same number, we really are going to see videos of everything. How about shooting the videos of your cat, dog, even your pillow and uploading them to YouTube?
Great! That’s exactly what people are going to do with their iPod nano. After that, there would soon be news that the iPod nano is the most used camera for shooting video uploaded to YouTube. Flicker once announced that the iPhone was the most used camera among users to upload photos and it was news. The same thing awaits for the nano.
The iPod nano as Steve Jobs hinted is not made for competing with single function video cameras. So, lets not start assuming sales of video recording cameras would be affected. This is not like the war between game consoles and the iPhone. Steve Jobs specifically mentioned that the iPod nano would compete only with the Flip Mino HD, which I am finding hard to believe.
The Mino HD has a far better picture quality and is much more easy to use matching the higher price tag. So, if you really want the smallest video camera you’d probably pick the Mino. However, if you are out hunting for a multi-purpose device that serves as a music box, FM receiver and a video camera, the iPod nano is all yours.
With just 30 frames per second shooting capability, the iPod nano is no threat to dedicated video recorders. It would be impractical to expect a high end camera in so small a device like the iPod nano in the first place. No not yet! This is made just for casual use to capture rare moments that seldom recur. The camera being in your pocket all the time brings that advantage and convenience.
Though the camera kinda sucks in terms of quality, the ease of filming anything, the simple process of saving and uploading to sites like YouTube make the nano a nice to have device. Thus, nothing is there to stop Apple from selling the iPod nano in millions.
