Top paid iPhone game: BATTLE BEARS from SkyVu Pictures
‘Affectionate hug never had killed anyone,’ you may think, but Battle Bears from SkyVu Pictures is here to prove you wrong. We are not talking about war but about hugs and hugs that can kill you. That’s the reason why you need to eliminate those who are running toward you to hug you in this innovative game.
Battle Bears is a shooter game well sweetened with imaginative tweaks and twists. You are trapped behind enemy lines with only a gun and a crossbow, which is an advantage as your enemies know nothing about guns or arrows. Swarms of enemies would run to you intending to hug you. Your mission is to take them down with your weapons before they touch you.
You’ll be “Hugged to Dead” if you are too slow in shooting or are not good at aiming. As the levels advance, you gradually become rich from the loots you collect from the killed enemies. With that money you can fortify your position by building a defensive sand bag bunker or purchase more powerful weapons.
There are different types of enemies with varying size. The bigger the bear, the more shots it take to see it go down. The forgiving part is that the bigger bears are sorta slow while the smaller ones are fast.
Games based on killing of something or someone can always be termed as violent. However, with Battle Bears we might need to reconsider our constant nature of generalization. First, the game theme is all about hugging and second, killing the bears do not spill any blood, but you’ll see a rainbow like ray getting connected with heaven whenever a bear is taken down.
The control schemes and simple and neat too. You use one finger to pan on the screen to aim and tap with another finger to shoot. To pause an ongoing game you simply need to tilt your device 90 degrees and to quit the game, you need to hold down the green button for about two seconds after pausing the game.
If you are thinking about the game sound, you won’t be disappointed there too. There are different and matching sounds that echo the blasting of weaponry blended with original soundtrack.
The killing pace become kind of maddening after stage four. Another very forgiving feature of the game is that you don’t need to start from the scratch if you have whizzed past stage four, you’ll just start from stage four whenever you are hugged to dead. There are two equally engaging game modes, survival and story mode that can keep you shoot tranced for hours.
Battle Bears is one game that’s well themed, graphically polished and strangely intuitive and innovative. It’s good to see it making to the top.
