Filled to the Brim with fun; iPhone application review

brimBrim is definitely one of the better filler games around in the App Store. This game from Invictus uses the physics and accelerometer aspects of the iPhone very well to make for smooth game play.

Filling up the screen is very simple as we just have to place our fingers on it to create shapes. The shape will keep inflating as long as we keep our finger pressed down, or until it touches another shape. However, when it touches an enemy object, it bursts into pieces.

There are 70 challenging levels to play. Each level has a fixed number of shapes to fill up the screen. If we are unable to do it with the allotted number, we have to start over again. We can also tilt the phone to move the shapes around according to the natural acceleration.

The levels have mini games in between them to spice up the game play. They are quite a lot of fun in themselves; in the first one, we have to help the shapes escape the screen through an opening. In the second one, we battle the enemy boss by tapping on him furiously to make him disappear.

Brim is not as easy as it sounds, and the latter levels can be especially challenging. The shapes don’t stay the same but come with missing sides, and at times the gravity reverses on us. All these features make the game play far from monotonous. And of course, there are the awesome graphics to make Brim a game to keep on our iPhones.
