Another match-three puzzle game hits the App Store, but with its own variation to the genre.

Omini Stones had me puzzled on how to play it until I figured out that mixing two different stones together creates an omini stone. And then we have to match two or more such stones to score points. There are three colors, and combining two colors produces another specific color. It took some time to keep on remembering which colors produce what color, but we get the hang of when we keep playing.

There are four game modes to choose from; Classic, Timed, Challenge and Infinity. Each of them poses their own kind of challenge, and we can play them depending on our mood and time factors. We clear a level when we can attain the omini goal set in each level.

Omini Stones is enabled with gravitational acceleration, so tilting the phone on any of its four sides make the stones fall that way. This helps us to get out of sticky situations especially in the more difficult levels.

The game play is interspersed with bonuses to make it more entertaining. Making a match of three or more stones rakes up huge points. There are also eleven achievements to gather throughout the four modes. All these challenges ensure that the game play does not become dull.

Once we get going in the game and become experts, we get to unlock omini secrets. I cannot tell you what they are, for they are supposed to be secrets, remember?

It is not easy getting there though, for there are obstacles in our path to Omini glory. They come in the form of bombs and stones shaped like an ‘X’. The game is saved each time we exit it, so we need not worry about starting from scratch when we get to it again.

I like the mix and match concept of Omini Stones; it requires more than the simple mix and score points game play. It is one puzzle game which requires us to think while making our moves, and have fun all the while.
