I’ve not had so much fun with such a simple application in a long time. All we have to do in PhotoMadness is to name the animal in a picture. But wait, not so fast! The images are blurred and we have to guess them within ten seconds. The pictures get clearer as the seconds tick by, and there are four options given for us to choose from.

The faster we are able to guess correctly, the more points we score. On the other hand, a wrong guess deducts our points, so we need to be careful and very sure of the animal before we give our answer.

PhotoMadness has two game play modes. In the Classic mode, we can choose from among four skill levels; Easy, Medium, Hard and Expert. And then we can further choose the number of pictures we want to play with – 5, 10 or 15. For every correct animal we can spot, we get 1000 points plus some more according to how fast we guessed it. But if we goof up, 1000 points go down the drain.

The cool bit about this mode is that we can create a challenge code to take a friend head on. The code ensures that the friend will have to play with the same settings and pictures that we have played with, and he has to beat our score on those grounds.

In the other mode which is the Arcade mode, every correct answer gets us 1 point including additional time. But it is a fatal move if we make a wrong guess, for the game ends for us right there. We can submit our scores and see how good it is on a world ranking.

We get awarded with bronze, silver and gold medals for our efforts. But seriously, I think the fun game play is reward enough for playing PhotoMadness. It is one of those games that we can pick up anytime to play, and yet doesn’t get boring. There are over 930 pictures of 62 animals, so we will be kept guessing for a long time to come. This is a game to be mad about.
