Play Sea Battle Classic with opponents worldwide on the iPhone
It is not very often that I play a lite version of a game and am intrigued enough to go for the paid version. It is even rarer that I should like the paid version. But when it comes with a cool update like Sea Battle Classic, I can’t wait to get my hands on it. I had reviewed Sea Battle Classic Lite a good three months back, and had liked the game play. And now the game is back again with more game modes to make this military game more interesting.
The game play remains the same; the goal is to sink the enemy’s ships first before he gets your own. We can arrange our ships anywhere on the field before the game starts. A lot of luck plays in too, as we cannot see each other’s ships and have to play according to our instincts.
What have made this game more exciting are the new updates which enable us to play with other opponents via Bluetooth or on the internet. In the lite version, we could battle only the computer or another player through Wi-Fi.
Since I had already tried the computer and Wi-Fi route, I checked out the other game modes on this version. When I went online, I had the option to choose an opponent from a list of players online. We need to register unless we really don’t want to do that but just play as a guest. But once we register, we can load our own avatar too. We can chat with the opponent during the game, and this adds a fun element to the game play.
We can know our global ranking as our scores are pitted against the top 100 players from around the world. As for the Bluetooth mode, we simple have to enable our Bluetooth to get the game going with another player.
Now, the crunch question is – Is it worth paying $2.99 for the paid version? There is not much variation in terms of game play from the lite version, and everything else has remained the same. But yes, the new game modes have added an extra edge of fun and competition to the game, so I would say it is worth it. For those who are not so keen on shelling out the amount, the earlier version is still a good deal, but I have a feeling that once you play it, you will want to go for the full package.
