Create your own set of images on Pairopix on the iPhone
Here comes another memory game trooping into the App Store. But instead of turning out to be another run of the mill game, Pairopix has some unique features to surprise us. Even the images are displayed in a different manner from other picture pairing games. Instead of flipping open cards, there are ports that we can touch, and they open up to reveal the pictures.
There are twelve pairs that we have to find and match. We can play the game in two levels. In the first level, we have to tap on a port and then try to find its match. If we can’t, then both the ports close, but the matched ports remain open. We need to find as many pairs as we can in the shortest time possible with the fewest taps.
However, in the second level, if we can’t find another pair within seven seconds, then the pairs that we have already matched close. Also, if we don’t tap on another port within two seconds, then even the first port that we have opened will close on its own. The second level is definitely more challenging, for we need to keep the time factor in mind.
But the USP of Pairopix has got to be the fact that it lets us get creative and come up with twenty of our own personalized image sets. Though we can always choose from the four sets already given in the game, it is so much more fun to add our own. We can select the pictures from our photo albums or camera, and crop and adjust them to fit the portholes. If we are real pleased with our piece of work, we can send a screen shot of it to be posted on the Spinal Apps website.
Another thing I like about Pairopix is that we don’t have to tap on any button to pause the game play or go to the menu. A simple shake of the device does the trick.
In the sea of similar applications, it is a breath of fresh air to find one that tries to add something new; Pairopix has done that successfully.
