There are so many games today where we can find out our alter egos as a farmer or a chef and many others; it is time to unleash our inner prowess as an interior designer. When I first saw Home Sweet Home, I thought that it must be like Yoville on Facebook. But then I found out that here, instead of creating our own homes, we are working for some clients and our goal is to please them. They are not very helpful clients either, for there is no specific list of things they like or demand, but only a riddle to guide us and come up with a beautifully designed space.
We can start off by creating our own profile. Once we are done with that, we are introduced to this friendly lady called Dee who takes us through the various steps that constitute creating a stylish home. As with every project, there is the budget to stick to. And as mentioned earlier, we need to decode the house owner’s wishes by trying to read between the lines.
When we have an idea of what would make our client happy, we can start purchasing furniture from the Catalog. A sure indicator that we are going about our work in the right way is the Thumbs Up icon which makes the customer satisfaction meter go up. We need to get past a certain level to be able to progress from the Design phase to the Build phase. We also need to meet the item quota which is the minimum number of items that we have to add to the design.
For the Design phase, Bill Dur takes over and takes us thought the building process, and we get to meet the building team – Brain, Goran and Liz. To use one of the builders, we just have to tap on him and then the piece of item that we want to build. When the builders run low on energy, we can pep them up by tapping on the coffee pot to refresh them. If their energy runs too low, they can turn cranky and delay the work.
We need to keep in mind that we are working with a deadline and finish things off on time. At the end, we are paid for our hard work with cash. That makes all the labor worth it! And yes, we get a new assignment with a new client.
There were a few snags like the game getting frozen, and also the fact that we cannot save our creations. Home Sweet Home would do great with such added features, but it still is a beautiful game that challenges our designing and strategy skills.
