Mister Rogers Make a Journal for Preschoolers on the iPhone is a delight
The friendly Daniel Striped Tiger from the Neighborhood of Make-Believe is here to help children express their feeling through a journal. And what a spread the journal is! It is such a well-laid out, thoughtfully created and beautiful application.
There are five journal topics that children can choose from; Books, Mad Feelings, Playtime, Pretending, and School. Each journal opens up to a storyline which kids can fill in with pictures which express their own feelings. There are five pictures given as options for each step in the story-building process. And for all of their journals, kids can create and customize the covers. There are crayons, markers, watercolors and stickers to come up a virtual journal cover.
The journals can be saved and stored in the Library to be viewed whenever wanted. They can be removed and new journals created in their place. It is also possible to take a picture of the journal cover and preserved in the photo album. I think that’s a lovely idea, for it is nothing less than artwork from children.
All throughout the process, Daniel Striped Tiger is around to make the experience more fun and exciting for the kids. Mister Rogers Make a Journal for Preschoolers is definitely one application that every kid should have his hands on. It is fun and also such a great way for kids to express their feelings, thoughts and generally to communicate in an interesting way.
I just wish there were more journal topics, especially one on family. PBS KIDS, hope you are listening. On a whole, a delightful application that is going to get kids have fun with expressing themselves.
