Play with UFOs with BlastOff Addiction on the iPhone
It is interesting to check out the different kinds of themes that developers try to come up with for puzzle games. BlastOff Addiction from SOFTIC Ltd. uses a UFO theme, and the game play is a combination of matching pairs and path finding strategy.
We need to launch UFOs from their respective platforms, and figuring out the right path to those platforms is the tricky bit. The game play is quite simple though; we just need to touch a UFO to select it, and then hold it down and push it towards the right platform. We need to be careful though that it doesn’t collide with another UFO or gets sent to the wrong platform, for the UFO will blast off into oblivion.
We also need to watch out that we don’t send the UFO to a line that goes out of the playing field, but only to lines that have an edge within the area. We can scroll the play field with our finger, and if we want to locate either the corresponding UFO or platform, we simply have to tap either one a single time.
BlastOff Addiction has 300 levels of game play. Here we don’t need to clear a level to progress to the next one. If we have been unsuccessful, we can choose to replay it, or move on to the next one. The levels get more difficult with more UFOs to launch and a bigger playing field.
There are two color schemes that we can choose from; Cool and Nice Colors. They may not have been named very creatively, but the looks make up for it. BlastOff Addiction on the whole has amazing graphics. The control schemes also work great and the game play is smooth. The soundtrack also complements the game play well. I especially liked the blasting sounds, though that is something that we need to avoid in the game.
The game play is saved if we stop in the middle of a level. BlastOff Addiction can be a real challenge especially in the later levels, and we need to do some serious logical thinking then. It’s a game to pick up on the go, and also sit down and play for hours.
