Just when I thought that I couldn’t take more of match three puzzle games or their variations, Super Juicy comes bouncing into the App Store and gets me hooked. Berzerker Games has added so many little twists to this game that it becomes quite unique on its own.
The basic premise remains the same – we have to tap on three or more bubbles of the same color and pop them to score points. And then the fun begins as the twists and turns come in. Each level brings up a new surprise in the game play. There are some bubbles with fruits inside them; when popped they score more points than normal bubbles.
Then there are the bombs; popping them will destroy all bubbles of the same color on the screen, even if they are not grouped together. Sometimes a bomb will come along with a number attached to it. This means that bubbles totaling that number have to be grouped together for us to pop them. A black hole is a bumper popper; it has the ability to destroy all the bubbles near it, irrespective of what color or kind they are.
Just as there are bonus bubbles, there are some bubbles that we have to stay away from. One of these types is the bubbles with spikes in them. Even tapping a bubble which is not part of a group of three or more makes it inflate as well as get deprived of the bonus item if it has one. There are solids too, and they can only be destroyed by bombs and black holes.
There are four game modes that we can play at our will. The Classic mode challenges us with levels one after the other, thirty-eight in all. The Action mode is all about being quick with our fingers and beating time. There are some bonus levels in store in the Bonus mode, while the Chaos mode requires expertise to take it on.
Super Juicy has fantastic graphics. The bubbles follow the gravitational movement of the phone. The touch response is real good and makes the game play smooth and exciting. The only annoying bit is the scoreboard which comes up too often for my liking. Overall, it’s a real killer of a game and I can’t wait to play more of it; Berzerker, please keep the updates coming.
