The city of Paris boasts of more than 45 million tourists every year.  If you are one among them visiting Paris soon, then this new application from Geodio called Visit Paris has to be on your iPhone. And even if you are not, it is an interesting way to journey to the city of love without actually having to traverse the miles.

Visit Paris takes not only one but three features of the iPhone to bring us an experience of Paris that is not only informative and visual but also makes it a ‘live’ event. The GPS feature lets us explore the city in a unique way, as we can stroll around and then stop at any tourist attraction to view a video and also get details on it. But fret not if we are not in Paris, for we can look at it ‘from a distance’. Personally, I would use this application for this very purpose itself; to see what the city has to offer and sample its fares, if I may.

The application has an array of 48 videos ranging from 15-30 seconds to 5 minutes in duration that are easily downloadable. We can scroll through the list on the main screen itself. The top portion of the screen is filled with part of the map of Paris, while a search box and the list of videos take up the lower part of the screen. Tapping on the map gives us a larger view of it.

The text accompanying the videos is a helpful aspect, and easily takes the place of any tourist guide. Visit Paris ensures that we do not just see the sights but also get to know about them too.

The application has an easy to use and well-designed interface. The only thing lacking, if any, would be more of what is already available, meaning more content. Who can get enough of a good thing, especially something as enchanting as the city of Paris?
