TripSpeak French is the best French teacher on the iPhone

tripspeak-frenchSome people have the natural talent of picking up languages without much effort. Sadly I am not one of them. And even for those who are pros, I’m sure that an application like TripSpeak French would ease the process. Speaking of which, who is not enamored with French, the language of romance? So I also set off with a brave and studious heart to take a look at this application.

TripSpeak French takes us beyond the boring and often impossible translation lessons to use images instead to teach us. It contains 24 lessons based on a specific theme with 20 words or phrases each. Each of these phrases has four images accompanying it, and we have to choose which the correct concept is describing it. I found this very convenient, for what better way to remember some word than to associate it with an image?

Another handy feature about TripSpeak French is that it does not require an internet connection to work, so we can learn the language anytime and anywhere. There are four tabs at the bottom of the screen for the various features of the application. The Reference tab takes us to 5 different topics with sentences and phrases related to it. We can listen to the audio for each line to help us know the correct way to pronounce it.

There is even a Progress button to show us how well we are doing. This is calculated according to how we chose our answers to the lessons. I am pretty proud of myself because I managed to score an 82% in the au restaurant series of lessons. I guess the language of food speaks loud and clear to me.

TripSpeak French has been aptly named too, for it is a perfect companion to take along on a trip to a French speaking region. And even if not, it is a great way to learn the language in an easy and natural way. This one gets a thumbs up from me.
