Angela’s World is both fun and challenging; iPhone app review

angelas-worldThe first thing that impressed me about Angela’s World was the stark black and white graphics. Maybe I’ve just gotten a little tired of the bright and colorful stuff in other games, but the graphics here add to the game play, and, of course, make a good first impression.

In Angela’s World, we have to help her gather roses on a planet. It is not as hunky-dory as it sounds, for the planet does not like the little girl taking the roses, and will do all it can to stop her. So be prepared for anything from sparks to and weird weapons flying at us left, right and center.

If we are confused about how the controls work, we need not fret, for tapping on the ‘question mark’ at the bottom right corner of the screen reveals all the instructions. To move in a clock-wise direction around the planet we need to tap on the right, and on the left to move in the opposite direction.

There is more to the game play than simply dodging danger. The roses that we collect open up game events. There is also a high score list for both online and offline games, so we can always pitch our gaming skills against other players.

Angela’s World has an exciting musical score to complement the game play. Talking of which, the game play might sound simple, but it turns out to be quite a challenge, especially with the achievements thrown in. It is a good game to pick up and play anytime, and I think that the artwork is enough to shell out $0.99 for it.

This game is awesome. The art is unique and the online score system + achievements make the $0.99 well worth it.
