I must admit that the first thing that struck me about Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Preschool Storybook Piano by KIBOOMU was, well, its long name. But thankfully, I discovered that there is more to it, and the ‘more’ part turned out to be pretty interesting. This iPhone app for preschoolers packs in four different ways to help the little ones get a feel of the piano in a fun way.
In the Play and Sing Along mode, the keys light up in tandem with the notes as the song is played. Learn the Song helps kids to do just that; the notes are given so that they can play the song themselves. Karaoke Mode is also self-explanatory. The cool bit is that it can be sung along in English, Spanish and French. This is great way to learn the song in other languages. It would have been nice if the language option was included in the other modes too. In the fourth mode called the Free Style Mode, kids can do their own thing and play whatever they want.
Besides these four modes, the app also has a surprise in store. It includes eight different sound effects ranging from instrument to animal sounds. This is sure to delight the toddlers.
Twinkle Twinkle Star is non-fussy to use with tabs clearly indicating the features and functions. The storybook format makes the interface appealing, and the artwork is beautifully done.
This is one app that is sure to be a hit with kids. It is entertaining, and at the same time a good initiation into the world of piano for them. The choice of the song itself is a plus point, as most kids know and love it. So if you are someone looking out for an app that combines both creative fun and learning for kids, look no further than this one.
