iPhone application review: Psychoban packs gore and fun together in a puzzle game

psychobanWelcome to the mad world of Psychoban, brought to us courtesy the devious thoughts of the guys at Dedalord. It is based on the lines of Sokoban, but with its own unique style and storyline.

Even for those of us who are not familiar with Sokoban, the How To Play option takes care of our game play queries. Our mission here is to move blocks to their designated positions. The trick to remember is that we can only push blocks and not move them any which way we like, so we need to have space to stand behind the blocks to push. Push them into a corner, and we are more or less doing that to ourselves. We can pile up blocks for our convenience, and also move the blocks on top. When we tap on a block to select it, the moves we can make are highlighted to make our job easier. The best aid though is the Undo button which erases the last move we made.

There is more to Psychoban than just the fun game play. The graphics are top-notch and make the game play so much more interesting. The dialogues of the mad scientist, his assistant and even the weird rants of our psycho fellow add humor to Psychoban. The main thought that struck me about the dialogues is that a lot of effort has been made in writing them, enough to make us overlook the spelling mistakes.

The game has 50 levels of game play spanning over five mental asylums. We unlock each level and asylum when we are able to get past the present one. Psychoban may not be the toughest puzzle game on the App Store, but all of its features combined together certainly make it worth shelling out $2.99 for it. Get ready for some craziness coming your way with Psychoban!
