“Oolly App” for iPad is a very exciting kid’s interactive learning app from Progressive education. The app aims to teach new skills to preschooler’s with its interactive method and a character named Oolly.
The app has different type of activities/game modes that can be played by kids. Currently the app has a sorting mode in which Kids need to sort things and place them rightly. For example a milk bottle goes in the fridge, while the hand gloves are kept in a cupboard or near the microwave rather than a fridge.The sorting mode has 4 different locations to be played in- the bathroom, kitchen, bedroom and the backyard. These simple activities improve kid’s observation levels and help him identify each item with its unique shape, color and use. Moreover the character Oolly keeps talking to the kids and pronounces the name of each item that is being picked and dropped anywhere. When a kid goes wrong or does not know where to place an item Oolly guides him/her by directing what they need to do next.
When we say interactive, it’s not just the character but various items in the room work like they do in real life. For example you can turn on the shower by tapping the knob, open the door of microwave by pulling it, or pull the curtains by sliding over it and similarly do much more with the interactive elements in the picture.
Oolly App is played with a natural gesture of grabbing things but with fingers to pick them up and drop somewhere else in the app. Each correct activity is appreciated by Oolly and so is the level completion which awards an ice cream to the kid for helping mommy. So, kids aim to complete the delicious ice cream bar on the left hand of the screen in each activity making the whole experience very engaging and fun.
