iPhone Game Review : White Corpuscle Wars – Can you work as hard as the white blood cells to keep you body healthy?

Biology has been subject of my interest since I was school kid and I loved to learn something new about our own body each day. Did you know the white blood corpuscles work hard, day and night to keep you healthy? Can you work as hard as the tiny corpuscles to keep your own body healthy? While, White Corpuscle Wars for iPhone isn’t a health app but this game can keep you hooked to your iPhone for hours together.

In the game, your journey starts as a small and the only white blood corpuscle inside the body whose aim is to defend the body against germs and infection of all kinds to keep a steady flow of red blood corpuscles and the whole body in a healthy state.  By avoiding germs that are heading towards main organs in the body and the ones that try to form infection ultimately restricting blood flow you can keep the body you reside, in good spirits and control the temperature of body due to any possible infections.

The state of body, temperature of body and moods are displayed on the top information bar which is quite motivating to keep up with your goals and hurry up the body feels feverish or tired. The players score is also displayed along the other information which is calculated based on the number and type of infections and germs cleared. The game displays alerts when there is an incoming microbial attack or the body tends to get very sick. As you advance to higher levels and improve your skills, the Major General of the white corpuscle army will award and promote you to a higher rank. Challenge the germs and keep the body healthy to receive new awards and promotions or you won’t be amazed to find yourself dead and buried at the graveyard. During the game you can also tap on elements like red blood cells, white blood cells and bacteria to learn some interesting facts about them and your body. There are a variety of bacteria’s that show up in the game, including common diseases like viral and cold, and its really interesting to learn the something new as you progress in the game.

The complete game can be played with just one hand using the accelerometer of the device and that’s really cool for slipping out your iPhone on a bus stand or a queue without having to juggle. While the game brings equally good graphics, the background and war field over saturates itself with red as the primary color. The munching sound effects,war zone instructions and background music go hand in hand with the gameplay and do add to the excitement of the gameplay.
