Berrystore for BlackBerry users as they wait for BlackBerry App Store

Berrystore for BlackBerry users as they wait for BlackBerry App Store

How many days, weeks or months, we don’t know; yet you have to wait for the BlackBerry App Store. There are talks that the BlackBerry App Store might be only for the BlackBerry Storm which is not yet launched. Berrystore, a third party is distributing applications for BlackBerry users to make the long wait less painful. All the available apps are free and Berrystore owners have plans to deploy paid applications too. I could not test the available applications as I have long ago traded my old BlackBerry Curve to switch on to the iPhone 3G. I wish I kept it Read More...

BlackBerry and iPhone history; a quick retrospect

BlackBerry and iPhone history; a quick retrospect

Launch of the first generation iPhone: June 2007 was the Apocalypse month for RIM, the maker of BlackBerry and other smartphone manufacturers. The iPhone was born, so to say anointed to bring change to the smartphone market. One year down the line, we saw the rebirth of the device, in the form of the iPhone 3G. We still remember how we walked into Apple Stores, carrying an iPod, a cell phone and a PDA and came out with a single device that perform all the functions of the devices once we carry around with great pride. Apple did something great. The iPhone Read More...

HTC Dream to be launched in November?

HTC Dream to be launched in November?

Seems that today’s rumor machine is milling out buzzes overtime.  With the Apple September scheduled for today, it will be easy to miss out on another rumor that is doing the rounds -the "fact" that there might be a HTC November to follow suit soon. It seems that the HTC Dream G1 might go live soon in Britain. In the last quarter of 2008, that is. It remains to be seen though that whether the HTC-T-Mobile-Android paranoid triode would eclipse the iPhone-o-mania.

“Let’s Rock”: The Apple Teaser

"Let's Rock": The Apple Teaser

Yet another Apple event. And yet another round of controversies. Rather say rumor. Rumor, buzz, chitchat, word of the mouth. Those synonyms will and do gush forth every time. What is Steve Jobs going to pull out from the back of his Jeans? An iPod nano? What is he going to display on the giant projector screen? A new firmware? The iTumes unlimited? New series of Macs? If you are an Apple fan, you sure have heard these stuff. Even if not, you cannot possibly escape the rumors.  Google has already bombarded us with enough of those stuffs. We are not trying to speculate. Nobody, Read More...

3G iPhone killer: Samsung Omnia

3G iPhone killer: Samsung Omnia

This is a quick description of  Samsung Omnia, the most talked about iPhone killer. We don't find it  as a real threat to the 3G iPhone, somehow. Yes, it is a touch screen and looks strikingly similar with our iPhone 3G, so this must be the reason why we contemplated 'it's an iPhone killer.' It is not clunky as there are only three buttons to play with and not too big or too small just like our iPhone 3G. Memory capacity is exact 8GB or 16GB nothing new here too. It is slim and sexy with everything you are looking for Read More...

First Look: The HTC Android Handset

First Look: The HTC Android Handset

Lots of hypes. Loads of paranoid (Android). The phone of the future is just around the corner, just about to knock on your door. Here is a look at a "beta" model of the much anticipated first Android based handset as it is sneaked out and spread around the web. We pay our courtesy to the Shiny Media for the following images: No doubt it has both touchscreen and the QWERTY keyboard. However, I am certainly not trading my iPhone for this bulky staff.

The Android Sphere is here

The Android Sphere is here

Google has released reports about its Android platform. It seems Android wants to create a distinctly different space from the App Store. Space, because Google insists that though it will be similar in function to the App Store - i.e. allow users of Android-based devices to browse and install software -it will be a "Market", rather than a "Store": “Developers will be able to make their content available on an open service hosted by Google that features a feedback and rating system similar to YouTube. We chose the term “market” rather than “store” because we feel that developers should have an open and Read More...

The Android Paranoid: Is it real?

The Android Paranoid: Is it real?

Seems so. Google's ambitious platform is going to team up with HTC and T-Mobile to launch the product, possibly as early as October 2008 in in the US. The proposed phone is said to have a 5/3 inches screen along with a five-row slide-out keyboard and a 3 mp camera. And of course, 3G connectivity. The proposed/supposed smartphone, however, will be pretty bulky, it seems. Look and feel wise, however, it looks like this Google-HTC-T-Mobile trio is even trying to compete with the iPhone. And then there is the App Store where developers are enjoying full freedom. The "Androidsphere" is propagating an image Read More...
