BlackBerry offer ends so also Blackberry sales

BlackBerry offer ends so also Blackberry sales

Victor said this right! It was Verizon and RIM's trick that made BlackBerry phones the #1 selling phone in the first quarter of 2009. If you have not heard about the trick, it was the "buy one get one FREE," offer on all BlackBerry phones. That was not a bad strategy, but a desperate one to lure smartphone freaks.  The offer has ended and so seems the sales record too. Lately, the iPhone 3GS has stolen the limelight with Palm Pre following. RIM shipped a record of 7.8 million units of BlackBerries in the first quarter and Apple just managed shipping Read More...

Google’s Eric Schmidt is BlackBerry addicted

Google's Eric Schmidt is BlackBerry addicted

What does it imply if you have a lawn mower but borrows your neighbor's machine to trim your lawn? One, yours ain't working properly or two you are being mean keeping aside yours fearing wear and tear.  The same question pops up in my gadget conditioned mind seeing the photo of Google's CEO, Eric Schmidt holding a BlackBerry. Where are all those Android based phones? Do they all suck that even the head priest can't imagine to use one, at least for prestige's sake? Never mind! Schmidt, after all is also a human being and most of all an influential decision maker Read More...

iPhone 3G monthly price plans likely to change

The need to cut cost concerns us all now more than ever because of the present financial downturn. It never tickled my head that using an iPhone 3G would cost me $1,800 over the two year contract, the entry level being $69 per month. It does worry me now and I was thinking using one of the BlackBerry free handsets could be a better alternative to cut cost though I love the iPhone. Seems Apple and AT&T too knows customers' concerns about cost and here is a speculation that there might be some modifications in the cost of monthly plans. Michael Read More...

BlackBerry Curve overtakes iPhone sales

BlackBerry Curve overtakes iPhone sales

How many of you would buy an iPhone if Apple or AT&T were to announce "Buy one get one FREE" offer. Yes, I see millions of raised hands out there. This is what exactly Verizon did with the BlackBerry phones when the handsets were not selling good. I say it's a good business strategy to force people spend when there is credit crunch. Apple might never do this though.  The aggressive buy one get one free offer on BlackBerries has turn out good for both RIM and Verizon. BlackBerry Curve has become the best selling smartphone in the US leaving the Read More...

Berrystore for BlackBerry users as they wait for BlackBerry App Store

Berrystore for BlackBerry users as they wait for BlackBerry App Store

How many days, weeks or months, we don’t know; yet you have to wait for the BlackBerry App Store. There are talks that the BlackBerry App Store might be only for the BlackBerry Storm which is not yet launched. Berrystore, a third party is distributing applications for BlackBerry users to make the long wait less painful. All the available apps are free and Berrystore owners have plans to deploy paid applications too. I could not test the available applications as I have long ago traded my old BlackBerry Curve to switch on to the iPhone 3G. I wish I kept it Read More...
