True to the pre-Apple special music event rumors and expectations, iTunes 9.0, iPhone OS 3.1, iPod touch and iPod nano with camera were announced on that lucky Wednesday.
With iPhone OS 3.1 Apple added some handy features and we also got bugs, too as usual. iTunes 9.0 brought a bunch of new features too, but while talking about major features, most of us didn't care whether the social networking capability was added in the update.
Apple did integrated the social networking feature in the update, which I seriously feel is placed in a corner where no one would ever notice. This is Read More...
When your iPhone/iPod touch explodes, don't ever say that it's Apple's fault or the device's faulty design. Apple has finished investigating the case of iPhones/iPods exploding and I am finding it real hard to buy the results.
Apple has this to say about exploding iPhones and iPod touches:
“The iPhones with broken glass that we have analysed to date show that in all cases the glass cracked due to an external force that was applied to the iPhone.”
This report rubbished our earlier speculations that the device battery is to be blamed for all the explosions we've heard/reported of till date. Were all Read More...
Joe Hewitt, one of the developers at Facebook, has posted in his Twitter feed that a new version of the Facebook app has been submitted to Apple for review. This is the guy who was involved in the development of the Firefox browser before he joined Facebook, so I'm sure there's plenty to look forward to in the new version.
The new version will offer:
"...access to the much-improved app which is scheduled to have features such as a News Feed that is more like the one on Facebook’s site, the ability to “like” items and a new customizable home screen. Also, Read More...
Apple and AT&T are apparently facing a lawsuit over MMS. Some people are missing this feature badly, and are angry that Apple lied to them about it being available. And here I was thinking MMS is a dead technology that no one really cares for. Think about it You have a camera, you have email, Facebook and Twitter, apps that let you upload your pics straight to Flickr from your iPhone, and more-- why would you even care whether the iPhone has MMS?
It doesn't add up, unless you consider the possibility that this being a class action lawsuit, Read More...
We all have heard a lot that the next batches of iPod nano and iPod touch would have cameras. Chinese manufacturers are out again with cases meant for the unannounced devices either to tease our curiosity or to expose Apple's top product secret.
The manufacturers seems to be darn sure that Apple would be launching new iPod touch and iPod nano in September with cameras on both. These bunch of Chinese guys are shipping samples and are even ready to take orders from US retailers. That's a bold and a smart move huh!
One weird observation about the cases; the hole for Read More...
Yo ho! I am a little late in reporting this, but it's still worth some cents. Apple has released the beta 2 version of iPhone OS 3.1 and SDK. Registered developers, go ahead and download the OS, discover the secrets and let the iWorld hear about the tidbit features.
And those of you who not registered but are tempted to test the beta OS, heed Apple's warning: "These versions are for development and testing only and should be installed on devices dedicated to iPhone OS 3.1 beta software development."
Some of the features known so far are the option to send applications Read More...
Finally here is an iPhone application that makes the iPhone/iPod touch wiser for the benefit of music lovers. Adaptunes is the application and it gives you the freedom that the iPod application failed to provide.
Adaptunes is a replica of the iPod application with auto volume adjust feature.
The application showcases the magic of iPhone SDK and OS 3.0. It directly controls the content of the iPod on your device. All the songs, video files and podcasts you have in your iPod app would be visible in Adaptunes.
This application is meant to be used when you are on the move. Create playlist Read More...
Sad news for all of us who have not managed to purchase the 3G iPhone. Waiting for a week to let the crowd thin down was a bad idea after all. Jim Neal reports that 117 iPhone outlets have completely run out of stock. Out of the 188 iPhone outlets only 27 stores have all the 3 models and 44 stores have some models left (you don’t seem to have much choice here).
Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin Read More...
