AT&T MMS from September 25: Tethering to wait

AT&T MMS from September 25: Tethering to wait

We all have waited long enough for MMS and Tethering to be enabled for iPhone users on AT&T network. Finally, AT&T has announced that MMS would be available for iPhone 3G and and iPhone 3GS users starting September 25. The company said the feature would be made available in a software update. This is indeed a good news. However, availability of Tethering, the other feature of iPhone OS 3.0 update would further be delayed. The network carrier possibly is waiting for the complete roll out of the 850 MHz 3G, which they have already implemented in some major cities. The reason AT&T Read More...

First Find My iPhone victims: You can't play with MobileMe powered iPhone

If you are an iPhone owner, this piece of news would make you want to sign up for MobileMe right away. However, if you are a mugger who's fond of looting or stealing things from people, this news is a warning: Never try to steal/loot Apple's iPhone in this lifetime.  One of the handy features that came with iPhone OS 3.0 was Find My iPhone that works with MobileMe. The feature lets you detect the exact location of your iPhone when you misplace it or is stolen. You can also remotely delete the content on your phone after logging in to Read More...

iPhone OS 3.0 unreported major bug for developers

iPhone OS 3.0 unreported major bug for developers

Hmm, thought MMS exploit and deleted e-mail bug would be the last things I would hear about iPhone OS 3.0 issues. It was destined to be so, if I didn't stumble upon this insightful write up. I am kinda fancying developers were afraid of Apple invoking the SDK agreement if they blurt out about this problem. Well, this doesn't seem to me like a minor problem (that deserve silence) even though I don't know the nuts and bolts of developing an iPhone game/app. Thanks to Rama Krishna from iPhone Developer Labs for giving a detail explanation of the 'known bug' (so replied Read More...

Zombies like iPhone 3.0 e-mail bug: Apple knows about it

Zombies like iPhone 3.0 e-mail bug: Apple knows about it

iPhone OS 3.0 brought many many welcome features, but unwanted features also came along with the good ones. First it was the MMS exploit and now the zombie like bug associated with deleted e-mails.  Cult of Mac first reported about this flaw. Try deleting any of your e-mail and empty it from the trash too. You probably would think that the mail content is gone forever. Not so, if your device is running on iPhone OS 3.0. It is still on the device.  You remember the subject line of the deleted message right? Search for it in Spotlight. You'll be shocked to Read More...

IPhone OS 3.1 beta 2 available for developers

IPhone OS 3.1 beta 2 available for developers

Yo ho! I am a little late in reporting this, but it's still worth some cents. Apple has released the beta 2 version of iPhone OS 3.1 and SDK. Registered developers, go ahead and download the OS, discover the secrets and let the iWorld hear about the tidbit features.  And those of you who not registered but are tempted to test the beta OS, heed Apple's warning: "These versions are for development and testing only and should be installed on devices dedicated to iPhone OS 3.1 beta software development." Some of the features known so far are the option to send applications Read More...

No Push Notification for unlocked iPhones: Apple punishment

No Push Notification for unlocked iPhones: Apple punishment

Remember the days when you were punished for being naughty in class? I recall a punishment that deprives me from getting what my friends are given. Nasty punishment for doing equally nasty things! Well, Apple seem to be paying back in that coin to unlock iPhone users. Push notification, one of the features that came with iPhone OS 3.0 ain't simply for those who choose the (un) Apple way. The feature won't work at all or would give unlock iPhone users so much trouble according to the developer of NotifyMe. NotifyMe is one application that works on push notification. The developer came Read More...

Apple’s iPhone OS 3.0 $9.99 tag unfair for iPod touch users

Apple's iPhone OS 3.0 $9.99 tag unfair for iPod touch users

During iPhone 3G launch , Apple proudly announced that the company have sold more than 40 million iPhone and iPod touches and that there are more than 50,000 apps in the App Store. There is not a streak of doubt there and I'd say kudos Apple!  Apple again made history when they successfully sold 1 million iPhone 3GS in three days disproving predictions of brave industry watchers and analysts. That was a repetition of successful iPhone sales history. Well and good for the company. However, upgrade to iPhone OS 3.0 seems to be going pretty slow. The OS was released two days prior Read More...

iPhone OS 3.0 is finally here: It is like Christmas time for iPhone owners

The wait has been long; the final hours were really tense. Finally, iPhone OS 3.0 is officially available.  Thank you Apple for the new features that you have brought to the iPhone. Wait for iPhone 3.0 ends today and we are still waiting

Wait for iPhone 3.0 ends today and we are still waiting

I was kind of surprised when a friend of mine who hates Apple and even the iPhone asked me: "What time is the 3.0 releasing?" My reaction was a natural whatta...! Well, he doesn't even have an iPhone.  I totally agree that he could have heard about the iPhone 3.0, but what I don't understand here is why and how he got suddenly interested in the iPhone operating system. Maybe he has heard enough of the iPhone 3G S and the iPhone OS in his work place, in the streets and elsewhere. Anyways, that was a good shocker and this perhaps Read More...

iPhone 3G S pre-orders started shipping

Apple has started shipping iPhone 3G S today to customers who pre-ordered for the device last week. Customers have started receiving shipping notification and Anna our new Associate writer is one of the lucky recipients of the notification. The mail, however does not say anything about the expected arrival date. The devices are coming all the way from Shenzhen, China where the iPhone is manufactured by Foxconn Electronics. Going by what Apple promised, the devices would be delivered on June 19, the day the iPhone goes on sale nationwide.  If you have not pre-ordered and are planning to buy the iPhone, you Read More...
