It has been a long long time since I read a great meaningless article. Thanks to David Coursey of PCWorld for posting an article titled "Apple's iPhone and iPod Monopolies must go." The write up accuses Apple for playing evil monopoly with their iPhone and iPod touch.
Has Apple directly or indirectly forced any one of you to purchase the iPhone or the iPod touch? No. We did that on our own whims and fancies. Most of us see butterflies the moment we hear about new Apple products. Mind you, Apple products never bring insomnia due to malfunctioning. They are always Read More...
There was much anger when Kevin shared his opinion that Lenovo's oPhone is very much like the iPhone. This time, let's say Motorola's upcoming QA4 Evoke's application icons are somewhat like that of the iPhone. No offense attached. Even the home button looks real familiar.
QA4 Evoke is not a smartphone though, however, it has mush to give to those users who love Motorola stuffs. Evoke would come with a full HTML browser, touchscreen display, slide out keypad and of course the familiar iPhone look alike widgets. QA4 Evoke has a 2.8 inches 240*400 screen display, 2 megapixel camera with 2x zoom Read More...
On a very optimistic note I do want to charge my phone (iPhone) anywhere with any phone charger. It's a wild dream for now, but come January 2012, if what the 17 mobile operators and manufacturers' commitment comes true we'll see only one common charger for all mobile phones on this earth. At present, the concept is somewhat like one mobile one charger, which contributes to churning out more than 51 thousand tons of waste a year.
The companies committed to the cause of implementing Universal Charging Solution are AT&T, KTF, LG, mobilkom austria, Motorola, Nokia, Orange, Qualcomm, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Read More...
In a rather surprising move Picsel Technologies, a Scottish IP firm has sued Apple for patent infringement of US patent titled, "Systems and Methods for Generating Visual Representation of Graphical Data and Digital Document Processing." The lawsuit is being filed in the District Court of Delaware.
Picsel in their statement claimed that scrolling and zooming functions in the iPhone and the iPod touch uses the set approximation value during the transition for which the patent is owned by the company. While zooming into certain objects in a device's browser, there is an estimation done through a scaled data approximation to know Read More...

Launch of the first generation iPhone:
June 2007 was the Apocalypse month for RIM, the maker of BlackBerry and other smartphone manufacturers. The iPhone was born, so to say anointed to bring change to the smartphone market. One year down the line, we saw the rebirth of the device, in the form of the iPhone 3G. We still remember how we walked into Apple Stores, carrying an iPod, a cell phone and a PDA and came out with a single device that perform all the functions of the devices once we carry around with great pride. Apple did something great.

More worries for Nokia as the sales of its Nseries phones tumble down because of the booming sales of the iPhone 3G. Sales prediction puts that Nokia's market share will come down in the summer quarter compared to spring. Here is an excerpt from Nokia desk:
Nokia's strategy is to take market share only when the company believes it to be sustainably profitable in the longer term, Nokia has not broadly participated in the recent aggressive pricing activity - as it believes that the negative impact to profitability would outweigh any short term incremental benefits to device unit sales.
For now, the Read More...
The iPhone 3G has been cloned. That's the biggest news from China today--apart from the Olympics, of course. This is not a big deal actually. We know that cloning is a shadow that will haunt every successful device or gadget from any well-known manufacturers. Some of them--like the HTC Touch Diamond, and the Instinct--have the marketing dollars to be touted as rival products, and not as clones. And we've seen enough of that already, and more still is coming.
But we also expected the cloning of the iPhone 3G to happen sooner. After all, devices from Samsung, motorola, etc. were cloned Read More...
The first generation iPhone could not impress the Market research firm Gartner for the gadget to be approved for Enterprise use. The iPhone 3G has finally done what its predecessor has failed. Gartner has approved iPhone 3G for Enterprise use with some reservations. While Nokia is left to bite the dust for having failed to make to the Enterprise club even with its E-Class products, Apple is now all set to join RIM and Window Mobile from here.
Gartner's report on the approval note reads:
We have discovered that the product works via an unencrypted, distributed XML file which could be changed by the Read More...
iPhone Shuffle should have been launched before the launching of the first generation iPhone. At the most, the launch of iPhone Shuffle should have preceded the iPhone 3G if we go by the stream of rumors. The rumors about iPhone Shuffle date back to early 2007. That’s a very long time indeed, but the blend of rumor and hope has withstood time. We are hearing again the non existent beeping sound of iPhone Shuffle.
Here, a report claims that the Nano version of iPhone will be hitting the market in December, a perfect gifting season that too from one of the Read More...
