Mark Papermaster to head iPod and iPhone engineering department

Apple has announced that Mark Papermaster would start work as Senior Vice President of Devices Hardware Engineering starting April 24, 2009. Papermaster was recruited in October 2008 to replace Tony Fadell who resigned as the iPod and iPhone division chief for personal reasons. Papermaster joined Apple in November 2008, however, but he was asked to cease work with Apple according to the direction of US Federal District Judge Kenneth Karras. Apple has done it again. Recently the company announced that it has become the number one distributor of flashlight and calculator applications through the App Store. Scott Forstall, Senior Vice President of iPhone software said that 20 million flashlight and calculator applications were downloaded in October, 2008. He termed this as a rare feat for the Company.
