Recently, Sprint's CEO Dan Hesse was asked whether Palm Pre is successfully competing with the iPhone. That was a very pointed question which could not be answered without stammering a bit. Dan did happen to stammer and responded something like, 'hmm, it's unfair to compare the two devices as they belong to separate categories.' The actual quote reads, "it's like comparing someone to Michael Jordan."
So, Dan thinks that the iPhone is the Michael Jordan of smartphones, which is painfully true for Palm and other Apple competitors. Matter of fact is that the two devices belong to the same category called Read More...
Not that I would be happy if Palm and Sprint were to fail in their Pre mission, but I am sort of becoming too excited reading everything about the Pre and the iPhone 3GS.
Many supposed iPhone killers came and simply had vanished. Where are BlackBerry Storm, Samsung Instinct, HTC G1 and the likes that we thought would dethrone the iPhone? When all hopes were gone and when we were almost convinced that the iPhone is going to rule for some more years, Palm gave us the webOS running Pre to take down the iPhone.
The launch of the Pre weeks before the Read More...
First generation iPhone users, listen to the preaching sound of Sprint coming from the wilderness of Palm (Pre).
Sprint does know that your contract term with AT&T would be ending soon and thus reminds you all to ditch the idevice, forget whatever is Apple, repent and get the Palm Pre. Sprint has used Facebook as the messenger this time.
"You can have a mighty fancy phone, but it’s only as good as the network it uses and the calling plans available to consumers. Look past the iHype and we think you’ll see a new Sprint with a strong network, appealing new phones Read More...
This is a post meant as a obituary to the iPhone. I have been writing about the iPhone for more than a year now and am pretty disappointed because the launch of the iPhone is going to be delayed.
Sprint and Palm are taking this possible delay as a blessing. Sprint has announced the launch date of the long awaited Palm Pre, the iPhone killer. June 6 is the launch date according to the Official press release of the company. There is no more mistake here.
The new Palm webOS powered device would be available in Sprint Stores, Radio Shacks, Best Buy and Read More...
I buy rumors and also sell them and I don't care much about profits as far as you all enjoy the pieces of craps that rains down from above. It is not only Apple rumors that sells hot; Palm rumors are also selling like hot burgers. Listen up!
If you are waiting for the launch of the Palm Pre that runs on the much anticipated webOS, you need to rethink. Palm mini Pre is also coming latest by the fall of 2009 according to a report on techcrunch. The device would be slightly smaller and slimmer and would of course run Read More...
AT&T finally realized that the iPhone is the best thing that ever happened to them. Though their 3G network is patchy and also is slow in many places, many new customers sign up for the sake or owning the iPhone 3G. The company in a bit to make people know that they are grateful to the maker of the iPhone has started advertising the iPhone on their homepage.
In terms of revenue the iPhone has boosted the overall returns of AT&T. To woo more customers, AT&T has spent some $450 million on network upgrade, which couldn't have happened if it were Read More...
Instinct's launch on 20th June, priced at $ 129.99 aims at undercutting the influence of the iPhone. The pricing and timing allows it to lock horns with the iPhone. Sprint is trying to prevent the defection of its customers to Apple.
Although Instinct cannot compete on the basis of its advantages which are not many, iPhone is tied to AT&T, and people who use Sprint, or do not want AT&T may choose Instinct.
According to David Lagasse:
Some people will choose the Instinct because they don't like the coverage or service offered by AT&T, which is the iPhone's exclusive carrier. Or true Read More...
Samsung and Sprint’s touch screen smartphone Instinct is making news these days. we know they’ve tried hard, and we must all be nice to them for the effort put in, but against the iPhone, Instinct doesn’t have much of a chance.
Peter Svensson figures there are problems with the phone:
The screen has two-thirds as many pixels as the iPhone, which means it displays less information. Worse, it's limited in the number of colors it can display, which spoils the look of some photos and movies.
The Instinct can only sense the touch of one finger at a time, which makes Read More...
Just as the the dust started settling after the release of iPhone 3G, I happened to catch up with some of my old pals from Sprint and RIM. the iPhone release had to come up, of course. I wanted to know what they thought of iPhone 2.0, and to my surprise, they had a lot to say. I can’t quote from them directly, but I did put together a gist of what they said.
So here goes:
